SummitFlux at ISSW2024

Showcasing Innovation in Snow Science

Last month, SummitFlux proudly attended the International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW2024) in Tromsø, Norway, as an official exhibition partner. Hosting a booth gave us the chance to connect directly with snow science professionals and enthusiasts, providing a unique platform to showcase our products and engage with the global snow science community.

At our booth, visitors could closely examine salt crystals at room temperature, mirroring how snow crystals are observed in the field, using our composite crystal cards and prototype viewing loupes with a triplet achromatic aplanatic lens system. (Unfortunately, making snow indoors didn’t make the final agenda! 😊)

For those interested in laboratory precision, we also showcased crystal analysis under a microscope—highlighting the clarity and accuracy our tools offer. The positive feedback was overwhelming, with two of our crystal card sizes selling out within a few days, underscoring the strong interest in these products.

In addition to our current lineup, we previewed upcoming innovations, such as a digital backcountry inclinometer and advanced field loupes, all designed to enrich the experience for both professionals and outdoor adventurers. We were thrilled to see so many sign-ups for product updates and release notifications. If you’d like to stay in the loop, you can sign up below. ⬇️

Perhaps most importantly, ISSW2024 allowed us to connect with you—our community. We received invaluable ideas, constructive feedback, and insights that are already shaping our product roadmap. These conversations have helped us reprioritize features in our development pipeline, understand the diverse needs across snow science sectors, and lay the foundation for future collaborations.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to the ISSW2024 organizers for creating such an inclusive, dynamic, and forward-thinking event. Events like ISSW drive the industry forward through knowledge sharing, the setting of new standards, and ultimately, safer backcountry travel for all.
